With the passing of Congressman John R. Lewis, we have lost
a giant of a man with a heart of limitless Grace. He risked life and limb many times over, fighting for civil rights, voting rights and equal justice. We mourn John Lewis’ death and celebrate his remarkable life, even as we are facing a long overdue reckoning with America’s past and a battle for its future.
How ironic that both he and Rev. C.T. Vivian would leave us on the same day, at this specific point in history, as we continue to struggle against the forces of hatred and racism, and one can’t help but to think that they are assembling an army of angels to help us in the fight. Rest in Peace and in Power, our brothers.
