Becoming Thurgood: America’s Social Architect – Film Preview & Discussion

Join WTTW and The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center for an exclusive preview of the powerful new documentary, Becoming Thurgood: America’s Social Architect. Directed and produced by Alexis Aggrey and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Stanley Nelson of Firelight Films, this film profiles the life and legacy of Thurgood Marshall, the first African American U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
Premiering on all WTTW platforms Tuesday, September 9 at 9:00 PM, the documentary traces Marshall’s journey from his early years in Baltimore to his education at Lincoln University and Howard University School of Law, highlighting his groundbreaking legal career and enduring impact on civil rights and American history.
Following the screening, Brandis Friedman – Chief Correspondent and Anchor for Chicago Tonight and Black Voices – will moderate a dynamic discussion featuring:
- Kim Foxx, former State’s Attorney for Cook County
- Perri Irmer, President and CEO of The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center
